CBSE NEET 2017 cutt off and details for Neet 2018


Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE would be releasing the NEET 2018 notification soon. As per past trends, CBSE is most likely to release the NEET 2018 notification in January 2018. The tentative dates for release of online application forms are not available as yet. Interested candidates can check important instructions, tentative dates and other things to note.

To begin with, candidates should note that NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination is the only entrance examination for admissions to medical and dental courses in the country. As per the Supreme Court ruling, admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate medical, dental courses in private, aided and government colleges would be done on the basis of the NEET examination. CBSE conducts the NEET UG examination while NEET PG is conducted by National Board of Education, NBE. NEET PG 2018 online application forms are already released and availabel on nbe.edu.in. CBSE would be releasing the NEET UG 2018 notification and online appplication forms tentatively in the month of January 2018.


Tentatively, CBSE is likely to release online application forms for NEET 2018 by Janaury 15 this year. While the sources have not confirmed the dates, they have confirmed that NEET 2018 notification would start only after the end of registrations for JEE Main 2018 examination. CBSE would be conducting the JEE Main 2018 examination on April 8, 2018 in the offline (pen and paper ) mode. The official notification of JEE Main 2018 is expected in the month of December 2017 and the online application are likely to end by first week of January. Sources suggest, the NEET 2018 application forms would start only after the close of JEE Main applications as both the examinations are conducted by CBSE.
As to other information, interested students are informed that from 2017, CBSE has made use of Aadhaar Card mandatory for all examinations. Accordingly, interested students are advised to ensure that they have applied for the Aadhaar card and have the aadhaar number ready. Facilitation centers would be provided by CBSE where students can apply. As there is still time, candidates should get the document, if not already applied. For NRI candidates, or candidates who are not Indian Nationals but fall within the eligibility purview, they would be required to provide Passport number.
As per the CBSE rules, candidates who have completed 17 years of age are eligible to apply. Candidates are also informed that in 2017, CBSE had imposed an upper age limit cap on the applicants. As per the initial notice of CBSE NEET 2017, candidates above 25 years of age were not eligible to apply. This age limit, however, was later withdrawn after SC intervention. It is expected that CBSE would not have an upper age limit. However, CBSE did impose a cap of 3 attempts on NEET and NEET 2017 would be considered the first attempt.
